40th Annual UCC Food Reseach Conference - hosted by School of Food and Nutritional Science UCC -31st March and 1st April 2011

The 40th Annual UCC Food Research Conference was hosted by the School of Food and Nutritional Sciences, UCC on March 31st and April 1st 2011.  The conference was very well received by both the UCC community and the Universities Institutions and Colleges associated. 

This year the 40th Annual UCC Food Research Conference was held at UCC. This Conference is primarily a forum for postgraduate students, from all Irish research institutions, to share their research, establish professional networks and gain experience of presenting the results of their research activities. In marking this significant milestone in the evolution of the Conference, there was also a number of key-note speakers. This conference was as always an excellent means of networking with academic staff, post-doctoral researchers and post-graduate students from the different Universities and research institutions around Ireland involved in food research.

The institutions from which people took part in the  conference this year included: University College Cork (School of Food & Nutritional Sciences, Department of Process & Chemical Engineering, Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre); Cork Institute of Technology ; Teagasc - Food Research Centres at Moorepark and Ashtown; University College Dublin; University of Limerick; Loughry Campus (Queens University Belfast); Irish Dairy Board; Marine Institute, Galway

Guest Speakers included : Mr. Jens Bleiel, CEO of Food for Health Ireland - Functional Foods - How to Make it a Market Success; Prof. Patrick Fox, School of Food and Nutritional Sciences - UCC Food Research Conference over the years; Majella Maher, Enterprise Ireland -  Presentation on research funding supports from Enterprise Ireland; Dr. Mairead McCann, safefood   Presentation on behalf of safefood
