Welcome to the UCC Free Legal Advice Centre Society
Hello and welcome to the web pages of the UCC Free Legal Advice Centre Society.
UCC Free Legal Advice Centre has been in exixtence for a number of years now. Its primary mission is to provide free legal advice to students of the University in a professional, concise and understandible manner. Our main function is to provide a free legal information service for students on any legal problems such as landlord issues, public order issues, consumer information issues and employment rights. Clinics take place every Wednesday in the Students' Centre on the third floor between the hours of 6 and 7 pm. The foom varies each week so be sure to ask at the information desk in the Students' Centre. This service is free and confidential.
UCC FLAC also runs informational stalls on various legal topics including tenant information, employment rights information and consumer rights information aiming to inform students on their legal rights in a practical manner. A number of seminars will also be held this term dealing with topical legal issues. Something that might interest students is our annual essay competition. Submissions are welcomed from all and last year the prize for first place was €200.
FLAC is a body that campaigns on behalf of the dispossessed, the impoverished, the excluded and the socially disadvantaged within the society through the use of law as a transformative societal tool. It is hoped that UCC FLAC will embody such aims and have a significant impact on student life over the next academic term.
