FILM STUDIES AT UCC PRESENTS:

AN ILLUSTRATED TALK ON FILMMAKING BY AWARD WINNING DIRECTOR REBECCA DALY

Rebecca will be talking about her debut feature, The Other Side of Sleep. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011 and screened to great acclaim at the Galway Film Fleadh and the Toronto International Film Festival. The film earned Rebecca nominations in the 'Best Director' and 'Rising Star' categories at the Irish Film and Television Awards 2012.
Rebecca will discuss the film's production, her filmmaking aesthetic, and will also screen one of her short films, Joyriders, which won awards for Best Short Film at the Galway Film Fleadh and at the Irish Film and
Television Awards (IFTAs)

After receiving a BA in Theatre and English and an MA in Film, Rebecca made her first short film, Joyriders in 2007. In 2008 Rebecca was one of six international filmmakers selected for the Cannes Cinéfondation Résidence du Festival in Paris. Rebecca has been invited to submit for the Sundance NHK Director & Screenwriting Awards.  The Other Side of Sleep is
her debut feature.
