Film Studies at UCC is proud to launch Silver Shadows: Screen Classics and Masters of Cinema. This exciting and informative new course will look at some of the most striking, important and influential cinematic works by a selection of the world’s best-celebrated filmmakers. Over twelve weeks, we invite you to view and then reflect upon six wonderful films, by considering them in original, creative and interesting critical ways. In discussion with film scholars who are passionate about cinema you will explore great moments from the history of film. These will include: Jules et Jim (Truffaut, 1962), Laura (Preminger, 1944), The Marriage of Maria Braun (Fassbinder, 1979), Sunset Boulevard (Wilder, 1950), Taxi Driver (Scorsese, 1976) & Voyage to Italy (Rossellini, 1954).
The course, which will be taught by experienced post-doctoral researchers and PhD candidates in Film Studies, is open to all: no previous practical or theoretical knowledge required.
