Making DSLR Music Videos: An Introduction
Duration: 8 hours over two days, Saturday 31 and Sunday 1 April 2012 Time: 10.30-12.30 and 1.30-3.30 pm on both Saturday and Sunday Fee: €110 Fee for UCC (student and staff) & unwaged: €100 Deadline for applications: Friday 23 March 2012 Minimum intake: 10 participants
This short workshop course will teach students the art of making an independent music video on a DSLR Camera (such as the Canon 550D, 7D etc). The course assumes that the participants have access to / basic experience with a DSLR camera and editing programs like Adobe Premiere Pro.
The course will be taught by award-winning Cork-based filmmaker Shaun O’Connor. Shaun has made numerous music videos for various bands, and is known for getting impressive results and high production values on small budgets. His music video work has screened at various international film and multimedia festivals, and on national television. Most recently, he received two nominations and one win at the 2011 Irish Music Television awards. Shaun has also won awards for his short film work from the Fastnet Short Film Festival, the Charlie Chaplin Comedy Film Festival and the Kerry Film Festival. In addition, he directed, co-wrote and composed music for the Cork mockumentary Steamin’ + Dreamin’: The Grandmaster Cash Story in 2009, which had two sold-out screening at the 2009 Cork Film Festival, and an independent DVD release. Making DSLR Music Videos: An Introduction will cover all the aspects of preparing, shooting, editing and promoting a music video. Shaun will be using examples of his own work as references and case studies.
