Position Summary
We are looking for a dedicated researcher to join a project tackling the critical issue of air pollution by developing advanced sensor technology. This initiative aims to produce commercially viable, affordable and portable sensors capable of detecting oxidative atmospheric species at relevant ground-level concentrations, using modified silicon-based sensor devices. The role involves contributing to key activities, including the organic functionalisation of metal and semiconductor interfaces, extensive sensitivity and selectivity testing and advancing sensor technology to readiness level 4. Based at University College Cork, this position offers the chance to work closely with academic and industry partners on research with the potential to reshape global air quality monitoring. Ideal candidates will have a background in chemistry, materials science, or related fields and a strong interest in environmental sensor technology applications.

Post Duration: 7 Months
Salary: €31,462 - €41,443 p.a. (IUA Researcher Assistant Salary Scale)
