Call For Papers
This year’s Borderlines conference seeks papers on the literary, scholarly, artistic, social and political structuring of the medieval world and / or its subsequent ‘reconstruction’ or interpretation from the Renaissance to the present day.
Papers might consider, but are not limited to, the following disciplines and topics:
Imaginative and Creative Structures: Language, Writing, Music, Art & Architecture
Structures of Identity, Time and Topography: Maps, Travel, History, Ethnology, Conquest, Utopias, Diversity & Centrality, Authority & Subversion
- Structuring the Book: The Medieval Manuscript and Early Print Culture; Authors, Compilers and Audiences from the Renaissance to the Present day
- Constructing Medievalism: The Middle Ages as Depicted in Modern Literature, Television, Film and Theatre
Proposals of 250 words for a 15-minute paper (with 10-minutes allowed for questions and discussion) should be submitted by the 1st of February 2008 either electronically (preferable) to info@borderlines.ie or by post to Borderlines XII, Dept. of English, UCC, Cork.
