PDE Orientation & Main Course Lectures Information
Orientation for PDE students is scheduled for mid/late August 2013. Main Course Lectures for the PDE will commence 09th September 2013.
General information about the PDE course
Core Modules
ED6301 Philosophy and History of Education (5 credits)
ED6302 Psychology and Sociology of Education (5 credits)
ED6303 Curriculum Assessment and Technology (5 credits)
ED6304 Teaching Studies: Theories and Practices of Teaching and Learning (5 credits)
ED6305 Reflective and Professional Practice (5 credits)
ED6306 Inclusive and Multicultural Education (5 credits)
ED6307 Teaching Practice (20 credits)
In addition to the above, each student must choose 2 of the following modules, which willl be determined by the subjects taken to degree level. : The Teaching of Business Studies, Civic, Social and Political Education, English, Geography, History, Irish, Mathematics, Music, Religious Education, Science, French, German or Spanish and Italian.
Teaching Practice Practical
Each student is required to:
a. Teach a minimum of 100 hours, under supervision, in a recognised second level school. The list of approved schools will be available from the School of Education Website; www.ucc.ie/en/education
b. Prepare schemes of work, lesson notes, and teaching materials.

The portfolio documents the professional growth of a student teacher over the year.
