What is Economics?
Economics is an interesting, challenging and rewarding subject that offers excellent career prospects.
Economics deals with many of the ‘big issues’ that challenge us locally, nationally, and internationally – explanations for human behaviour and choice, the role of inflation in an economy; interest rate and exchange rate effects; cause and effects of economic growth; business activity and business performance; government budgets and much more. It also enables us to understand individual decision-making such as how students decide what course to study, how long they spend studying, why footballers earn such high wages and why cinemas offer student discounts.
It does all this because Economics is a subject based on human desires, motivation, beliefs, structure, constraints and need. Economics will provide you with the knowledge, insights and understanding necessary to understand the decisions of businesses, households, and governments.
