Department of Economics Disability Support Service
The Department of Economics in University College Cork is one of the largest providers of quality Business programmes in Ireland. It has a sustained reputation for academic excellence and attracts over 40 Economics students registered with disabilities each year. Our aim is to enable you to achieve your educational and vocational goals in an inclusive learning environment.
The Disability Support Service is continuing to work towards greater co-operation and communication with all disability students and we work to aid students like you over the past academic years achieve your goals. Under the guidance of the Disability Support Office on Campus, we provide educational support requirements to each student and alternative exam arrangements which may apply both to end-of–year exams and also Departmental exams. All students needs are communicated to Departmental staff at the beginning of each academic year where required by the student. General supports in place in the Department try to facilitate specific learning, visual and physical disabilities. To implement these supports we liase closely with the Disability Support Service and attend various Disability Awareness Programmes in order to be aware of the continuing changes and requirements of students registered with the Disability Support Office.
We are beginning to see the fruits of our efforts. Already students with disabilities are making a successful transition from undergraduate to postgraduate programmes with disability students registered in both our Masters and Higher Diploma courses.
