Welcome to the Department of Economics webpage for Chinese students
The Economics Department welcomes Chinese students for the study of Economics at undergraduate and postgraduate level. We offer a clear path for Chinese students to study at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level within the Department.
We are committed to ensuring that our Chinese students have an enjoyable, enriching and memorable time while studying in the Department. We have designed an undergraduate programme dedicated to Chinese students, which is studied on a 2+2 basis. We also welcome visiting Chinese students to study in the Department for one year on a 3+1 basis.
2+2 students must successfully complete two years of study at one of the Chinese universities with which the Department has an alliance and two years in the Department of Economics in UCC. Upon successful completion of two years in UCC students will be awarded a BSc (Business and Financial Economics) from UCC.
3+1 students can complete one year of study in the Department of Economics for which they are given credit at their home university in China. Students can choose from a range of business and financial economics courses. More information on the courses available to students is available by contacting me at d.jordan@ucc.ie and a full list of the courses offered by the Department is available here.
Currently we accept students for the 2+2 and 3+1 programmes from two Chinese universities with which we have an alliance, Henan University of Finance and Economics (HUFE) and Beijing Technological and Business University (BTBU). We hope this will expand to other Chinese institutions. Of course we welcome Chinese students from other universities to study on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered by the Department. There is more information available for these students here.
