Becoming an Undergraduate

The Department of Computer Science offers a variety of undergraduate degree programmes, designed to suit a wide range of interests.  The programmes have recently been updated:

Each programme incorporates a six-month or twelve-month work placement within the Information Technology (IT) industry, during the third year.  In the final year, students complete a substantial project allowing them to apply the knowledge gained during their chosen programme.

Honours Maths is not a prerequisite for admission to Computer Science in UCC and the broad scope of our updated courses appeals to many students.  No prior computing experience is required or expected.  Upon graduation, students should be equipped to pursue a career as computer professionals or, if they so wish, to pursue further studies.

Undergraduate life within the Department of Computer Science is both enjoyable and rewarding, especially now that our new state-of-the-art labs are available for use.

We encourage all prospective Computer Science students to visit our new facilities in the Western Gateway Building on the UCC campus.

If you would like more information on any of our undergraduate courses, please see our Courses and Programmes section, phone the Computer Science departmental office at +353 (0)21 4205892 or email secretary@cs.ucc.ie.
