German

German is an official language in seven countries in the EU (Austria, Belgium, parts of Italy, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Switzerland) and is spoken by 100 million speakers worldwide. Many students have experienced how studying German opens the gateway to the intellectual, economic and cultural riches of central Europe. It is also the language of “international icons”, for
example, sport (Schumacher), literature (the Brothers Grimm), music (Mozart), psychology (Freud), and science (Einstein).
As well as the language, we teach the history and politics of Germany. Graduates enjoy careers in, for example, language teaching, translation, international relations and international business.
