Archaeology

Archaeology is the study of past human societies through the physical evidence they have left behind. Like CSI detectives of the past we investigate important developments in the human story over millions of years. By taking Archaeology in UCC you can combine an intellectually stimulating subject with a professional career qualification. Archaeologists in Ireland work for the National Monuments Service and the National Museum, as well as for local authorities, county museums and planning offices. Commercial archaeologists work with builders and development agencies, carrying out surveys and excavation, environmental impact assessments, as well as heritage conservation projects and tourism initiatives.
