Ecological Assessment MSc
The MSc Degree in Ecological Assessment was offered for the first time in September 2008. It is a full-time programme running over 12 months from the date of first registration for the programme. The aim of this MSc programme is to teach students key practical skills in the ecological assessment of terrestrial and freshwater habitats in order to meet a growing demand for personnel skilled in rigorous, quantitative methods of ecological assessment. The programme will be run in discrete blocks to allow those already in employment to continue their job, in a modified form, while pursuing the MSc Degree.
The number of ecological/environmental consultancy companies entering the Irish market has increased and there now exists a considerable demand for graduates with skills and experience in a variety of areas dealing with ecological assessment. This MSc degree is an applied programme which relies heavily on sampling procedures and skills in taxonomy and the analysis, interpretation and reporting of ecological data.
