Background:
The BSc Environmental Management degree is a part-time evening programme offering a multi-disciplinary perspective on the environment. The aim of the programme is to provide an understanding of, and practical training in, all aspects of the environment that will be directly relevant to potential employers. This programme is appropriate for those who want to Improve their career prospects, or to start a new career in the environmental sector.
The emphasis is on understanding how we use the environment and the impacts of our use. During the first three years this is achieved through a combination of lectures, practical and field classes, site visits, residential field trips and directed home study. In the final year various tools for managing the environment are explored through individual and group projects, field work and case studies.
Classes are held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings starting in September and ending in April, with a two-week break at Christmas and Easter. There are examinations in December and May. Students who successfully complete the second year are awarded a Level 7 Diploma in Environmental Science.
