Course Introduction

 

1. Calligraphy

Immerse your heart in the art of calligraphy, guided by a regular pen and the pen within. This course covers mastering writing tools and postures, introducing profound Shudao Thoughts, and understanding basic Chinese character strokes and frame structures. The ultimate objectives are to develop a natural writing style and cultivate a profound passion for calligraphy. Let your heart and pen dance in harmony as you unlock the captivating world of this art form.

 

2. Pipa Chinese Instrument

The Pipa is one of the traditional Chinese string instruments, with a history of over two thousand years, renowned for its unique tone and expressive versatility. To promote traditional Chinese music culture, UCC Confucius Institute offers a Pipa Class. The course starts from the basics, teaching Pipa playing techniques and music theory, and is suitable for both beginners and students with some prior experience. Students will learn fundamental finger techniques, posture, as well as performance skills for popular pipa pieces, while gaining a deeper understanding of traditional Chinese music. The Pipa Class provides a comprehensive and structured learning experience, and we welcome all students interested in traditional Chinese music to join.

 

3. Hulusi Chinese Instrument

The Hulusi is a traditional wind instrument from the ethnic minority regions of Yunnan, China, known for its crisp, melodious sound and graceful tunes. To promote this unique instrument, UCC Confucius Institute offers a Hulusi Class, suitable for students of all ages. Whether you are a beginner or have some musical background, you will find a learning path that fits your needs. The course covers the basic structure and playing techniques of the Hulusi, common fingerings, breath control, classic folk music pieces, as well as individual and ensemble practice. This course will provide targeted guidance based on each student's progress and help them quickly master the instrument through demonstration and practice. We welcome students who are interested in Chinese ethnic music to join the class.

 

4. Martial Arts

We extend a warm welcome to students aged five and above to register and participate in our program. Together, let's focus on enhancing our physical fitness, mastering self-defense techniques, and embracing the essence of our nation while spreading the richness of Chinese culture. This course offers an excellent platform for students to showcase their skills through stage performances. The curriculum ensures an engaging and enriching learning experience. We eagerly await your splendid performances and the opportunity to grow together in this journey of cultural exploration and physical empowerment!

 

5. Chinese Painting

Chinese opera is an ancient and comprehensive performing art that integrates music, dance, martial arts, acting, and literature, carrying rich historical and cultural significance. To promote this valuable traditional art, UCC Confucius Institute offers a Chinese Opera Class for all students interested in this unique art form. The course starts with the basics, covering vocal techniques, traditional opera movements and stage actions, learning and performing classic excerpts, as well as exploring the historical and cultural context of Chinese opera. This course will combine theory and practice to help students master the core skills of singing, reciting, acting and so on.

 

6. Kuaiban

Kuaiban is one of the traditional Chinese folk art forms, known for its fast rhythm, vivid language, and interactive performances. To preserve and promote this unique art, UCC Confucius Institute offers a Kuaiban Class for all students interested in Chinese traditional culture and performing arts. The course starts with the basics, teaching fundamental rhythms and percussion techniques, helping students gradually improve their performance skills. The content includes rhythm training, learning and reciting common Kuaiban scripts, enhancing stage presence, as well as performance and creative expression.
