In  2011‌ the name of the Department of Anatomy has was changed to the Department of Anatomy & Neuroscience . To mark such a change in the history of the department Professor John Cryan‌ Head of the Department, proposed a competition to design a logo to reflect the new department. 

Dr Janelle Pakan postdoctoral researcher with Dr Kieran McDermott submitted the winning Logo. Dr Pakan's design includes an image of  the Flame sculpture, a piece specially comissioned by the department to remember those who donated their bodies to science, joined with an image of a neuron, which in turn represents the teaching and research interests of the department.

Dr Pakan has recently taken up a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Edinburgh.
