Guidelines on Organising Class Reunions

Reunions are a great opportunity for graduates to re-visit their alma mater and renew friendships with classmates. The Alumni Office organises an annual Silver Jubilee Reunion and a Golden Jubilee Reunion for all graduates of twenty-five and fifty years.  This year the classes of 1981 and 1956 will gather for a Gala Reunion Dinner and Luncheon in the Aula Maxima, UCC on 12 May and 29 May respectively.

The UCC Alumni Office offers assistance in the planning and organising of all other class reunions including: 

• Provision of class lists and mailings.
• Choice of on-campus venues with a wide range of high quality menus for lunchtime or evening functions.
• Recommendation on off-Campus venues.
• Accommodation listing of hotels and bed and breakfasts.
• Recommendation of  musical entertainment to suit your requirements. 
• Guided tour of the UCC Campus provided by expert guides from the UCC Experience Office located in the Stone Corridor.
• Guided tours of the Lewis Glucksman Gallery, UCC.
• Information on guided tours of Cork City.

Reunion Checklist

Running a successful reunion requires a lot of forward planning.  At the very outset you will need to: 

• Contact the UCC Alumni Office for information and advice.
• Recruit an organising committee representing a cross-section of the class.
• Interrogate the class list and update the contact details of classmates whose addresses are no longer known to the university.
• Decide on the type of reunion desired e.g. reunion weekend, luncheon or reunion dinner.
• Review suitable dates for the event.   In general, it is advisable to allow a timescale of between six and twelve months in planning a reunion.
