New York Reception May 2008

Alumni & Friends Network Re-Invigorated

Over 130 Graduates and Friends attended a Reception in New York for UCC Graduates and Friends on Wednesday evening, the 7^th May 2008 at The Yale Club of New York City.  The Reception was hosted by UCC President, Dr Michael Murphy and was attended by the Vice President, Michael O’Sullivan, Director of Development, Dr Jean van Sinderen-Law and Alumni Relations Officer, Caroline Waters.  Also, in attendance were Professor Geraldine McCarthy, Head of School of Nursing & Midwifery, UCC and Sinead Deignan, Manager, ArCH Project, Department of History, UCC.

The Irish Consul General of New York, Mr Niall Burgess welcomed President Murphy and his wife, Siobhan Murphy and UCC staff to New York.  The Reception provided a forum for Graduates and Friends of the university to network together, re-engage with their alma mater and hear from President about the many interesting developments at UCC.  The event was an outstanding success and helped re-invigorate the UCC graduate network in New York.  The new UCC NY Committee comprising Pat O’Connell and Dr Dick Roche are planning further networking events in New York later this year.   Graduates living in New York are encouraged to join the UCC network by updating their contact details via the update your details form on the UCC alumni website at http://alumni.ucc.ie and by linking in with the UCC NY Alumni Group Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=40828815531&ref=mf.
