Alumni Dinner - Princeton Club, Manhattan, New York - May 6th, 2009
07.05.2009

The first annual UCC New York Alumni Dinner was held at the Princeton Club in Manhattan on May 6th, 2009.

75 graduates and friends of UCC reunited for a very enjoyable evening.  Among the guests were Minister Micheál Martin, TD, UCC alumnus and currently Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Michael Collins and Consul General Niall Burgess.

President of UCC, Dr Michael Murphy, welcomed the University’s US-based alumni and friends to this special event.  Dr Damian Bracken introduced guests to the ArCH project (Armarium codicum hibernensium — the Bookcase of Irish Manuscripts), an initiative undertaken by UCC through which a series of facsimile editions of major historical Irish manuscripts will be created, thereby making this material accessible to researchers, both nationally and internationally, and creating an awareness in the wider community of Ireland's rich cultural patrimony.  Guests found this a very interesting introduction to one of UCC’s most notable academic endeavours.

Cocktail hour was followed by dinner after which guests enjoyed the party into the evening.  All agreed the evening was a great success and provided a wonderful opportunity to meet up with fellow graduates, to make new contacts and to re-connect with old acquaintances.

US-based graduates are encouraged to contact the Alumni Office to update their contact details, enabling UCC to notify them of future events in their area. http://www.ucc.ie/en/alumni/updatedetails/
