UCC Web servers

The unit manages the main UCC web server and the Intranet server.

All departments, faculties, offices, units, research projects, and student clubs and societies can have an account on these servers to publish their Web sites. Details are in the document Becoming a Web site owner in UCC.

EPU Policy on Student Final Year Projects on the UCC Webserver

It is EPU policy that any Student Final Year Project on behalf of a UCC department must not be installed to the UCC Webserver until the student has demonstrated that:

  • The software developed is secure and robust,
  • The software is fully documented using code commenting and a separate printable manual,
  • The software is easily maintained,
  • The software is fully functional,
  • They have read and adhered to the guidelines set out in the UCC Siteowner’s Guide (http://publish.ucc.ie/doc/siteowner) , especially those relating to the technical details of the UCC webserver (http://publish.ucc.ie/doc/siteowner?sectoc=6).

The software must be demonstrated in person to a member of the Electronic Publishing Unit along with the associated documentation. Once the EPU is satisfied that the software is secure and robust and does not pose a security risk to the UCC webserver, only then will the software be approved for installation. To contact the Electronic Publishing Unit send an email to webmaster@ucc.ie from your UCC email address.
