Elaine Hoysted, MPhil candidate in Art History, contributes to UCC’s Doctoral student research journal, The Boolean
Fri, 9 Dec 2011
Elaine Hoysted, MPhil candidate in Art History, has published an article on 'The art of death and childbirth in Renaissance Italy' in volume 2 of UCC’s student research journal, The Boolean. The article is now available to read here.
In preparation of this volume, UCC’s doctoral students were invited to submit short articles on their research which would be accessible to a non-specialist audience, both within and outside UCC. The 46 articles that appear describe research from right across the Colleges of UCC. These articles span history from ancient skeletons through Afghanistan in the 1980s to the web habits and electronic devices of the future, and topics as diverse as neo-paganism, international perspectives on Ireland and the bacteria present in farmhouse cheese.
In the coming weeks the journal link will be disseminated widely to employers, the media and others outside UCC, to highlight the breadth and quality of doctoral research ongoing within UCC. Following on-line publication of volume 1 of The Boolean last year, the website received thousands of hits and the articles contained therein were downloaded from countries all around the world, showing the importance of this initiative as an on-line showcase for UCC’s doctoral research.
