The Department has recently opened a new research facility for the study of human remains in Archaeology. The Biological Anthropology and Bioarchaeology Research Group has been established under the direction of Dr Barra Ó Donnabháin, with support from Dr Ron Pinhasi. This research group has developed a new Human Remains Laboratory, as a dedicated teaching and research facility for the study of human remains. The MA in Human Osteoarchaeology programme is also based in this facility.
