Location and Facilities

Location

The Department of Archaeology is located outside the main University campus, on the Western Road leading into the centre of Cork City (see map). We are based in the Connolly Building (former Presentation Brothers School) directly opposite Jury’s Hotel on the Western Road.

Facilities

Archaeology has a range of teaching and research facilities in the Connolly Building. In addition to staff offices and stores, these include:

  • Human Remains Laboratory
  • Excavation Laboratory
  • Environmental Archaeology Laboratory
  • Ceramics Laboratory
  • Computer/GIS Room
  • Prehistory Research Room
  • Early Medieval and Viking Research Room
  • Ceramics Research Room
  • Built Heritage room
