REGULATIONS FOR THE BSc (Hons) (FOOD BUSINESS) DEGREE
The BSc (Hons) Degree in Food Business is a four year programme which is offered jointly with the Faculty of Commerce.
Note: The BSc (Hons) Food Business Degree was replaced by a new degree, the BSc (Hons) Food Marketing and Entrepreneurship Degree, in September 2009.
SECOND YEAR - SECOND UNIVERSITY EXAMINATION IN FOOD BUSINESS
Students take core modules to the value of 50 credits and a Language elective module to the value of 10 credits. No student may register for Second Year Food Business until the First University Examination in Food Business has been passed. To be admitted to the Second University Examination in Food Business a student must have satisfactorily attended, for at least a full academic year, the following modules, amounting to 60 credits:

THIRD YEAR - THIRD UNIVERSITY EXAMINATION IN FOOD BUSINESS (for students who did not progress to Fourth Food Business in 2010/2011)
No student may register for Third Year Food Business until the Second University Examination in Food Business has been passed. The Third Year Food Business programme consists of taught modules to the value of 50 credits and Work Placement to the value of 10 credits. To be admitted to the Third University Examination in Food Business a student must have satisfactorily attended, for at least a full academic year, the following taught modules, amounting to 50 credits:

Note: The Third University Examination in Food Business will be undertaken in March/April.
Work Placement
Students must also undertake a 24-week period of Work Placement (FS3001 - 10 credits) after the Third University Examination.

Full details of regulations governing Examinations for each programme will be contained in the Marks and Standards 2012 Book, and for each module in the Book of Modules, 2011/2012, in advance of the relevant Examination.
Three Year Rule
Students must pass the Third University Examination in Food Business within three academic years from the date of first registration for Third Year. Failure to comply with this rule would mean that the student would be ineligible to proceed further with his/her studies. Exceptions to this rule may be granted by the College, only for very serious reasons.
FOURTH YEAR - BSc (Hons) DEGREE EXAMINATION IN FOOD BUSINESS
The Fourth Year Food Business programme consists of core modules to the value of 50 credits and elective modules to the value of 10 credits. No student may register for Fourth Year Food Business until the Third University Examination in Food Business has been passed, and the Work Placement module FS3001 has been undertaken. To be admitted to the BSc (Hons) (Food Business) Degree Examination, a student must have satisfactorily attended, for at least a full academic year, the following modules amounting to 60 credits:
