About the images and how to use this page:

• All available keywords related to specific topics are listed on the Notes pages of this site.

• Images will be sorted in alphabetical order of the slide names in the UWA ANHB teaching slide collection.

• All images are 1280 x 1024 pixels in size. Although the images were compressed to the smallest size that does not result in an appreciable loss of image quality, the image files are still large (0.2 - 0.6 MB).
  

  Downloading images may take a considerable amount of time.
  Estimated download time using a 56k modem: 1-3 minutes - high magnification images will usually load faster than low magnification images

• Magnification in the table of available images refers to the microscope objective that was used to take the image and not the final magnification on the screen.
  If you are interested in the size of features visible in the images you may use this set of scalebars. Once you have fetched the scalebars, you will always be able to "pull them up" from the bottom of the screen. All images will appear much larger than under the microscope at the same magnification. This may be a bit confusing if you do not have a feeling for the appearance of cells and tissues under the microscope.
  

  The images may help you when you work with the microscope or during revision, but looking at these images cannot and is not intended to be a replacement for work with the microscope.

• You can choose between two viewing options:
  

  	Allow one image window.
  	Allow two image windows.
  	The first image window you open will be your reference window. Its contents will not change unless the window is closed with the X button of the image window. The second, third etc. images will be loaded into the second image window. This feature should be useful to compare one image with several others.

  Occasionally the content of an image may not correspond to the name of the specimen, for example, the pancreas slide contained good examples of lymphoid tissue. These images can be identified by comparing the specimen name with the keywords.
