Eoins leaving

But only for a month. He is being shipped to Clonmel, the city that everyone loves to hate, and so wont be arround collecting money. This means if you havnt paid me by tomorrow, your out of the club. forever. O_o

Table Quiz

Flor is organising a table quiz for next Tuesday. If you have friends ( anyone? ) or prizes, do bring them along and it should be a great night . So far we have Mp3 players, football jereseys, some alcohol and a real (fake ) Yonex nanospeed 9000x. Check your webmail soon for the time and details! Go flor!

The gear arrives...

4th feb

about time

Ill bring it down tomorrow night. You wont get it unless you pay. No exceptions. Im serious about that, because if the rule bends for one, it bends for all and its important that i get everyones debt sorted out. So once all outstanding bills are paid, you get your clothes. hurray etc.

Varsities

dont forget that you need to give your name to Philip immediatly if youre interested in going. It will be huge craic and heavily subsidised craic at that ( hopefully)

Probably something else

im sure there was something else i wanted to say.

New year!

Announcments

Tournament time

There is a Cork Ladies and Mens div 4,5,6 doubles tournament, 24th Feb in Mahon.
Entries by 1st Feb

Its a tenner each, so bring in the money when you give your names please. Try have a team sorted, but if you dont have a partner , thats still cool, and we should be able to get you one. (assuming somebody else hasnt a partner )
Contact Shona O'Rourke or Eoin. Hell, maybe even Philip. Please note though,
no pay, no play
so bring the money in when you give your name. The event is independant of the club so you have to take a bus or bum a lift of somebody else if you cant get to town. Take the number 10 i think. Ill put up more details closer the date anyway.

Gear

Gear is arriving the 1st week of Feb. You'll get it once your fully paid.

All Englands

On the same week as the varsities. Unbelievable event though, with the best badminton in the world being played, commerical stalls and lots of random badminton stuffs. Joyce is insisting that we all go.

There are two options, go during the week, which would be the first few rounds, or go that weekend, which would be the quarter, semis, and finals, but you'd miss the varsities. ( you could of course , go for the whole tournament too)

I'd like to point out that not everyone will be playing at the varsities, so ask philip if youll be playing before you decide. Also, you dont need to play to go down and support the team/drink/act as a sub.

Liam recons it will cost in the region of 200-300 euro to go for the week, and the weekend would be a bit less obviously. Its on in Birmingham btw. Forgot to mention that. The club isnt allowed fund it as we're not playing , nor is it considered training. I tried everything, but there is no way i can apply for any money. No funding, sorry :(

So this is just a little extra week/end away to see some fantastic badminton if anybody is interested email me in the next week or 2 and joyce will organise things. ( will somebody tell joyce that? )

Urgent!

7th Nov

GEAR!

Memo went around today asking us to place the gear orders by Monday. If you havnt paid yet, thats ok, but if you havnt ordered, then you need to email straight away-
thebadpenny@gmail.com
The prices are on the website here, and the designs are similar but different to last year.

the hoodies come in three flavours: black, blue and red. If you dont tell me which one you would prefer, ill just order black.(Black is always in fashion)

Also, Email me the sizes if you havnt already specified. If not, ill just guess your size ( lucy-size, small, medium , large ), but seeing as none of my clothes even fit me, its in your best interest to email. Of course, everyone who was at training tonight is sorted out.I wont preach...

so this is your last chance! Email or forever be unfashionable.

Hello HENNING ZIMMER

henning( or is it hemming...), nobody has ( we lost) your phone number and we need to get in contact asap, so could you email or ring either Eoin or Dermot ( details on the committe page) straight away please.Hurry!

READ ME!

6th Nov

Halls on Saturday, 10th november

The halls are unavailable Sat 10th Nov as there is some big Fencing thingy on. So please dont come down,as you'll have no courts to play on, and will be taunted by droves of men in tights, waving swords and generally being very unmanly.

Money matters

Time is offically up, and Eoin is checking his list. There a still a few foolish people who "forgot to pay." This picture, shows the most recent person who "forgot."

Dont forget again...

ISBTS **IMPORTANT**

Philip will be annoucning it again, but the price of the ISBTs has gone up!! Its now 50 euro instead of 30 as we previously said. Really sorry to everyone, but we were just as surprised as you guys. Its still great value for a great weekend though, so if everyone could either bring the extra change to training tomorrow or bring it to the bus on friday, that'd be great. Which brings us to...

ISBTS -transport

BUS= 5.30 on friday from the western star. If your driving and want to offer lifts, please be there too.

Simon says...

Simon would like to remind everyone that feather shuttles, despite the fact they're lying all over the shop, are only for div 4 +. Divisions 5,6, and novice, all must play their matches with plastic/nylon shuttles, so it makes no sense to train with feathers, especially seeing as their so expensive and easily broken. Thanks.

Announcements time!

18th Oct

Registration money

Only one week left before Eoin throws a freaker and kills everyone who hasnt paid!!

Physio

This doesnt apply exclusivly to the badminton club, but Physiotherapy is available to all the members at the student health centre. Its a "walk in" clinic, so just turn up and you'll be seen to. The cost is 15 euro, but if you bring the receipt to the PE office ( which upstairs at the mardkye for those who dont know) they will refund you 10 euro. So you get a full physiotherapy service for 5 euro thanks to UCC's massive subsidies. The PE office have been stressing how useful a facility this really is , so anybody who has any problems, from sprained ankles(or weak ankles etc) to the Pauline's mysterious "sore leg", please pay them a visit. It means less injuries for us all season too, so we may as well promote it.

8.30-1.30
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday

@ Student health centre( on college road )

Gear

Ill update the gear section of the website over the weekend, but were taking orders now. The club playing gear will essentially be similar/same as last year, but Simon tells me that the sporty look is out this season and he has a much better design. He emailed me this :

And was mumbling something about aerodynamic and ribbons.

Anyway, this year we will have

T-Shirt:E15

Shorts:E15

Pants:E20

Hoodies:E35

The sooner we get the orders in, the sooner we get our gear arriving, so we'll need to have everyone who wants gear ordered and paid over the next fornight, and sooner rather than later.

Obviously, this is optional, and if you dont want a hoody etc, thats cool, however part of our sponsership deal with Bank of Ireland is that any time we represent the college ( i.e. all our matches ) we must show the BOI logo. Also, the Cork county badminton associtation, insist we wear white, and the UCC P.E office insist we wear kukri/ucc ( kukri=the guys that make the official UCC gear)

So where does that leave us? Well it means that even though its optional, it would be very wise to pick up a tshirt. The rest are alot less important, but we'd seriously reccomend it to keep everyone happy. If you have any questions about that stuff, email somebody(else) on the committee.

In an effort to speed things up, if there is anybody who didnt order yesterday, would they please email me with their name and what they want @ thebadpenny@gmail.com

Sizes are large, medium, small, and well bring down a few next wednesday for people to try out and we can sort that out then.

Bring down the money next wednesday, cause im sure youll all agree, that it would be alot better to get them as soon as we can.

ISBT

The International student badminton tournament (ISBT) is a series of tournaments run in lots of different countries for students.

more info here ISBT Homepage
or check out our gallery section or bebo page for past ISTB photos

This year, the Irish version is in limerick. It runs from the 9th of Novemeber until the 11th.
Its a weekend of badminton and socialising madness. We can only enter in a limited number of people(20-25) and some places are already taken , so would any interested people email me soon so we can see how many people are interested or come tell somebody on wednesday.
Wednesday will be the last day, so if you dont say anything by then, we'll just assume your not interested.
