Re:
Jobs in Science
Dear Editor,
I just cannot understand why they keep saying encourage students to study science when the bottom line is they fail to get jobs in this country.
My son studied for 5 years in university in microbiology then he proceeded to try and get a job which resulted in about 4o letters of refusal because he did not have experience. Then he did a masters in science journalism and went to Edinburgh where he is working in an internet cafe which he did in Dublin after graduating with 2nd class honours. He is a very bright and intelligent boy and it really is depressing to fail to get a job after all his hard work and determination.
