Welcome to the web site of The South & Mid-West Regional Dental Committee of the Postgraduate Medical & Dental Board. The Postgraduate Medical & Dental Board was established under the Medical Practitioners Act, 1978. The Functions of the Board include: Promoting and coordinating the development of postgraduate medical and dental education and training
Advising the Minister for Health and Children on all matters, including financial matters, relating to the development and co-ordination of postgraduate medical and dental education and training. Providing career guidance for registered medical practitioners and dentists The Regional Dental Committee The Board is made up of 6 Regional Dental Committees, each employs a part-time Course Organizer one each in the Midlands, North-East, North-West, South & Mid-West and in the West.
The general duties of the Course Organizer are to promote and encourage continuing dental education at individual group and regional level. To liaise with all groups interested in such education, to make recommendations to the regional committee on local needs, to provide continuing dental education as appropriate and to be involved in the assessment of the relevance and effectiveness of different courses and activities organized within the functional area of the regional committee.
