Aodán Ó Dúill / Aidan Doyle
M.A., Ph.D.
A graduate of UCC, Aidan Doyle studied for a PhD in linguistics in Poland, where he taught for a number of years. He also spent some time Germany as a Humoldt Fellow, working on the post-doctoral degree recognized in Central Europe (habilitation), which he obtained in 2004. He returned to UCC in 2002.
His teaching in the Irish department consists mainly of practical language classes. He teaches linguistics modules in the MA programme in Applied Linguistics, and in the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences.
Research: His main area of research is general linguistics, with a special emphasis on morphology, syntax, language contact, and historical linguistics. He is willing to supervise graduate students of any linguistic background who are interested in his areas of expertise.
Is é a phríomhghnó múinteoireachta i Roinn na Gaeilge ná ranganna teanga. Ina dhiaidh sin, múineann sé cúrsaí sa teangeolaíocht don chlár MA sa Teangeolaíocht Fheidhmeach, agus do Roinn na hUrlabhra i gColáiste an Leighis
Taighde: Is í an teangeolaíocht ghinearálta an réimse den léann is mó is cás leis, go háirithe an deilbhíocht, an chomhréir, teagmháil idir na teangacha, agus an teangeolaíocht stairiúil. Bheadh sé sásta stiúrú iarchéime a dhéanamh ar aon mhac léinn, is cuma cén cúlra teanga atá acu, a bhfuil dúil acu sna hábhair léinn a bhfuil saineolas aige féin orthu.
