Astatine, At, is a element with some metallic properties, found in
Group VIIb (i.e. the
Halogen Group of elements) of
the periodic table.

Discovery
Astatine was made by the bombardment of Bismuth with alpha-Particles
by Segre in 1940AD.
Occurrence
Trace amounts of the radioactive isotopes of Astatine are
produced in nuclear reactions. The total quantity of Astatine
present in rocks is less than 30 grams. Only a few micrograms
have been prepared to date.
