Welcome to the homepage of Dr. Charlie Spillane's
Genetics and Biotechnology
research
group in the Biochemistry Dept & Biosciences Institute, University College
Cork (UCC), Ireland.
This
molecular genetics
research group conducts
conducts research on the following areas, using a combination of wet-lab and bioinformatic approaches:
Epigenetics and non-Mendelian genetics
Genetic variation and functional-evolutionary genomics
Biotechnology & applied genetics
Science & Technology Policy
|
Our lab uses model genetic systems such as Arabidopsis thaliana, C.elegans and also mammalian cells to investigate biological questions. Our research objectives span basic research to biotechnological applications.
We also conduct research in science policy and communication.
Our group welcomes enquiries from highly-motivated postdocs or prospective postgraduate students/interns who feel they can contribute to any of the research topics in our lab. We are particularly interested in independent thinkers who are both self-motivated and ambitious with respect to
scientific research. Our lab is willing to host visiting scientists who can contribute to the wet lab or bioinformatics research underway in the group.
If you are interested in joining our group to work on any specific research topic, please contact Dr. Charlie Spillane at c.spillane[at]ucc.ie |
