19/09/2003 - Computer Aided Learning (CAL) Laboratory for UCC Pathology

The teaching laboratory at Cork University Hospital has been transformed into a state of the art CAL facility. The CAL laboratory contains a network of 54 high specification personal computers as well as digital projection facilities capable of creating a true multimedia learning environment. The facility will be used to achieve an effective leaning experience that blends the best aspects of interactive computer based learning and small group tutor lead learning.

The educational software and learning resources used within the laboratory and also the access to the World Wide Web that will be provided will be used to promote self-directed learning.

The department looks forward to the challenge of working with its students to make the most of this new facility.
