Statute LXXXII.
Irish Universities Act, 1908
University College, Cork
We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under
and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by
the said Act, Do by this present instrument under the Seal
of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in
the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said
College.
Given under the Common Seal of University College, Cork, this twentieth day of January, 1970.

Statute LXXXII.
Schedule
Statutes I. to LXXXI. of University College, Cork shall be read
and construed with the additions, modifications and amendments
hereinafter set forth.
CHAPTER I.
Professorship of French
- There shall be established in the College, in the event of its
institution by the National University of Ireland a Professorship
of French.
- The said professorship shall be a full time office within the
meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The
stipend of the professorship shall be the same as that provided in
Statute LXXX., Chapter I., section 5(a)(ii). The provisions of
Statute LXXII., Chapter IV., as amended by Statute LXXII.,
Chapter IV., section 1, and by Statute LXXX., Chapter III., section
1, shall also apply to the office.
- The duties of the professor shall be to lecture in French for all
degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all
diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in
French for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for
the University.
- The said professorship shall be a pensionable office to which
the provisions of Statute LXXIX., as amended, and the Pension
Scheme annexed thereto shall apply.
- The said professorship shall be tenable for the same term and upon the same conditions and the holder thereof shall be subject to
the same duties and obligations as if the professorship had been
included in Statutes I. to LXXXI. of University College, Cork.
- The Professorship of Romance Languages established by
Statute I., Chapter XIII., section 1, is hereby abolished and in
consequence thereof all references in that and subsequent statutes
to the Professor, Professorship and Department of Romance
Languages shall henceforth be deemed to be references to the
Professor, Professorship and Department of French.
CHAPTER II.
Lectureship in Italian
With the consent of the present holder of the Lectureship in
Italian, Statute LXXNVI., chapter V., is hereby amended by the
substitution of the following for section 3:
" 3. The duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in Italian
for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and
for all diplomas and certificates of the College. In the event
of the establishment of a Professorship of Italian in the
College the lecturer shall carry out the foregoing duties under
the direction of the holder of such professorship. The
lecturer shall also examine in Italian for the College and, if
required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall,
in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the
office as shall be assigned to him by the holder of the aforementioned professorship, if established."
CHAPTER III.
Lectureship in Music, No. 2
- Statute LXXXI., Chapter III., is hereby amended by the
addition of the following section:
" 4. The said lectureship shall be tenable for the same term
and upon the same conditions and the holder thereof shall be
subject to the same duties and obligations as if the said
lectureship had been included in Statutes I. to LXXX. of
University College, Cork."
- The foregoing amendment shall be deemed to have been
operative as from the date of coming into operation of said Statute
LXXXI.
CHAPTER IV.
Faculty of Dairy Science
Lectureship in Dairy and Food Engineering
The Lectureship in Dairy Engineering established by Statute
LXVI., Chapter V., shall henceforth be known as the Lectureship
in Dairy and Food Engineering and said Statute LXVI. and all
subsequent statutes shall be read and construed accordingly.
CHAPTER V.
Stipends of Statutory Offices
- Statute LXXVI., Chapter IX., sections 2 and 3, are hereby
revoked.
- Statute LVIII., Chapter I., is hereby amended by the
substitution of the following for section 6:
" The Governing Body, on the recommendation of the
President, shall have power to grant to the holder of a
full-time statutory office with special professional experience
increments on the basic of the scale of remuneration applicable
to the office."
- Statute LXXX., Chapter I., section 6, is hereby amended as
follows:
- The provisions of this Chapter shall be deemed to have been
operative as and from 1 October, 1969.
Statute XXVII., Chapter II., as already amended, is hereby
further amended by the deletion of the subject Romance Languages
from the Faculty of Arts.
- This Statute shall be construed with and as part of Statutes I.
to LXXXI. of University College, Cork and may be cited as Statute
LXXXII. of University College, Cork or Stat. LXXXII. of Univ.
Coll. Cork.
- This Statute shall come into operation on the twentieth
day of January, 1970.

was affixed.
