We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by the said Act, Do by this present instrument under the Seal of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said College.

Statutes I. to CXXIV. of University College, Cork shall be read and construed with the additions, modifications and amendments hereinafter set forth.
Notwithstanding any provisions to the contrary contained in Statutes I. to CXXV. of University College, Cork, the annual stipends of the President, of the professorships and lectureships referred to in this Chapter and of the Officers of the College shall, as from the dates specified, be increased as hereinafter set forth, the increased stipends to be each rounded to the nearest pound.
(a) The annual stipends as set forth in Statute CIX., Chapter I., Sections 2, 4(a), 4(c) and 6(a), as already amended, shall, as from 1 March, 1980, be increased by seven per cent and by £125.28.
(b) The annual pensionable value referred told Statute CXXIV., Chapter I., Section 2(b), shall, as from 1 March, 1980, be increased by seven per cent.
(c) The annual stipend referred to in Statute CXXIV., Chapter I., Section 2(c), shall, as from I March, 1980, be £1,443.
(a) The annual stipends of the professorships referred to in Statute CXXI., Chapter I., Section 2, as already amended, shall, as from 1 March, 1980, be £10,486.
Provided that the total of the annual stipend herein provided and the annual salary payable to the holder as Consultant by the Southern Health Board shall not exceed £20,972.
(b) The annual stipend of each of the lectureships referred to in Statute CXXI., Chapter I., Section 3, as already amended, shall, as from 1 March, 1980, be £9,092.50.
Provided that the total of the annual stipend herein provided and the annual salary payable to the holder as Consultant by the Southern Health Board shall not exceed £18,185.
(c) The annual stipends of the professorships and lectureships referred to in Statute CXXI., Chapter l., Sections 4 and 5, as already amended, shall, as from 1 March, 1980, be increased by seven per cent and by £125.28.
(a) The annual stipend of each of the part-time professorships referred to in Statute CIX., Chapter I., Section 4(e), as already amended, shall, as from 1 March, 1980, be £4,329.
(b) The annual stipend referred to in Statute CIX., Chapter I., Section 4(f), as already amended, shall, as from 1 March, 1980, be £534.
(c) The annual stipend of the Part-time Professorship of Political Ideas shall, as from 1 March, 1980, be £2,246.
The annual stipends referred to in Statute CXXIV., Chapter I., Sections 4(a) and (b), shall, as from 1 March, 1980, be increased by seven per cent and £125.28.
The annual stipend of each of the part-time lectureships set out in this section, shall, as from 1 March, 1980, be as set out:

There shall be established in the College, in the event of their institution by the National University of Ireland, six lectureships (untitled) as set out in the table hereunder, in the faculties, departments and subjects which shall be assigned as the Governing Body shall decide from time to time.

The said lectureships shall be full-time offices within the meaning of the Statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of each of the lectureships shall be the same as that set out in Statute CIX., Chapter I., Section 6(a), as amended.
The duties of each of the lecturers shall be to lecture in the subject assigned by the Governing Body under the direction of the professor or head of department designated by the Governing Body for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. Each of the said lecturers shall also examine in the subject so assigned for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. Each of the said lecturers shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office and which shall be assigned by the designated professor or head of department.
Those eligible for appointment to the lectureships hereby established shall be the holders of assistantships. On an appointment to one of the said lectureships, the assistantship thereby vacated shall remain vacant until a vacancy shall occur in the lectureship.
The said lectureships shall be pensionable offices to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX., as amended, and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto, as amended, shall apply.
The said lectureships so established shall be tenable for the same term and upon the same conditions and the holders thereof shall be subject to the same duties and obligations as if the said lectureships had been included in Statutes I. to CXXIV. of University College Cork.
On the establishment of the lectureships referred to in Chapter I., the following lectureships, established by the Statutes indicated in parentheses, shall hereby be abolished.

Statute I., Chapter X., Section 2, is hereby amended by the deletion of all words commencing with "Provided" to the end of the section.
(a) Statute LXXIX., Chapter I., Section 15(e)., as amended, is hereby further amended by the substitution of the words "one year" for the words "three years".
(b) Clause 19(e), as already amended, of Pension Scheme annexed to Statute LXXIX., is hereby further amended by the substitution of the words "one year" for the words "three years".
Clause 13 of the Pension Scheme annexed to Statute LXXIX. is hereby amended by
(a) designating the clause as 13(a) and
(b) the addition of the following sub-section:
"13(b) In the ease of a person who is employed in a pensionable position under the Local Government (Superannuation) Act, 1956, at any time on or after 29th June, 1977, and who, by virtue of his having ceased before the date of introduction of the Scheme to be an employee of the College was not a participant in the Scheme, the service referred to in the preceding sub-section may be deemed to be pensionable service".
With the consent of the present holder of the Office of Finance Officer & Secretary, the provisions of Statute XCVI., Chapter IX., Section 4, are hereby amended by the addition thereto of the following:
"xii. to be responsible to the Governing Body and the President for the buildings, grounds, property and associated equipment of the College and to be responsible for their upkeep, maintenance and adaptation and for the preparation of preventative maintenance schedules and the maintenance of the College services, including water, electricity, gas and sanitation, fire prevention and fire fighting.
xiii. To be responsible, under the direction of the President for the general organisation of the College Services Staff, Maintenance Staff and Grounds Staff and for ensuring the security of the College premises and property and the adequate cleaning and upkeep thereof ".
The foregoing provisions shall apply as from 1 May, 1980.
With the consent of the present holder of the office of College Engineer & Planning Officer, the provisions of Statute XCVI., Chapter IX., are hereby amended as set forth in this Chapter.
The Office of College Engineer & Planning Officer, as established by Statute XCVI., Chapter X., shall be known as the Office of Planning Officer.
Statute XCVI., Chapter X., Section 4 is hereby deleted and replaced by the following:
"4. The duties of the Planning Officer shall be:
(a) To participate in and supervise the preparation of College physical development plans, including the periodic review of such plans; to prepare briefs for capital projects which are determined to be such by the Governing Body, including the preparation of schedules and cost estimates of these projects; to direct multi-professional design teams engaged on such capital projects and to monitor the design, standards and costs of the building works up to completion.
(b) To advise on the disposition and allocation of accommodation in accordance with College policy.
(c) To maintain building records, plans and papers of the College and to provide such appropriate reports, information and advice thereon as may be required by the President or the Governing Body; he shall not allow any records, plans or papers committed to his care by the Governing Body or by any of its Committees, or by the President, to be removed without written permission of the Governing Body or of the President, or to be read or inspected by any person other than by a member of the Governing Body or the President without the written permission of the Governing Body or the President.
(d) To carry out, under the direction of the President, duties in regard to administrative matters appropriate to the Office and other duties appropriate to the Office as may be assigned to him by the Governing Body".
The foregoing provisions shall apply as from 1 May, 1980.
